Africa School of Missions is dedicated to preparing men and women for Christian ministry across the world. The opportunities here are excellent to gain valuable hands-on missions and ministry experiences through practical outreach into local and international communities.
Students are required to participate in their seminars and discussion groups, and be actively involved in every aspect of the Missions and Ministry Development Programme. The following are some themes covered:
- leadership and teamwork
- church planting
- ministry planning
- worship ministry
- creative ministry …. and more
The Africa School of Missions is committed to equipping their students with ministry skills to go into all the world for the glory of Christ.
You can choose to enrol for an international acknowledged Certificate, Diploma or BTh degree. Courses are presented through Mattersey Hall College and Graduate School based in the UK. This enables students to formalize their missions and ministry experience through their Distance Learning programme on the ASM campus. They also offer nurses training for those who are interested.
Students who have participated for a year in the ASM Missions and Ministry Development Programme have the option of doing the one-year Auxiliary Nurse’s training course.

The Auckland Park Theological Seminary is the oldest Pentecostal and Charismatic theological seminary in Southern Africa. It is accredited with the South African Qualification Authority as an official training institution. They offer excellent theological training by means of various tuition methods such as intramural classes, learning centres, home study and distance education programmes.
From certificates and diplomas to honours and doctorate degrees in Pentecostal theology, the Auckland Park Theological Seminary has successfully trained students from Africa, Asia, USA and Europe. Their other two campuses are in Umtata and Durban.
ATS is allows people with no university exemption to embark on studies and eventually be able to obtain a university degree.

This seminary in Arcadia, has trained hundreds of pastors from all over Africa for service in the Lutheran Church in Southern Africa. Their mission is to develop Christian values as well as pastoral skills and theological knowledge to all those who study here for pastoral roles in the Lutheran Church.

- Exegesis and Theology of both Old and New Testament
- Church History through the ages
- Lutheran Symbolics and Dogmatics
- Lutheran Practice of Theology
Study takes five years normally and as part of the introductory course, the participation of classes offered to become English and computer literate is compulsory.

ESSA is a tertiary level theological seminary, internationally accredited and based in Pietermaritzburg. They are an evangelical academic community preparing men and women for ministry and mission in Africa and beyond. Established in 1975 already, when they saw the need for a tertiary level, English medium, Evangelical seminary to serve Southern Africa.
They are registered with the Department of Education and SAQA. Most of their students live on campus and study full time, but they also have a lot of part-time students.
They offer programs at post-secondary and tertiary level.
A two-year diploma program is also available for those who already have a certificate.
