Anyone over the age of 17 can learn to fly and the Air Safety Pilot Academy offers a comprehensive range of basic and advanced flight training courses.

While the Private Pilots License is essentially for leisure flying, you will need a minimum of 40 hours of flight training,  the Commercial Pilots Licence is for if you want to earn a living from flying.

A Night Rating entitles you to fly at night, while an Instrument Rating is useful for both the  PPL or a CPL licence and allows you to fly in adverse weather conditions.

You can learn to fly in three weeks if you want. The fact that they are open seven days a week means students can schedule their flying times to suit them.

Their Air Safety courses are set out according to South African Civil Aviation Regulations and conform to International Civil Aviation Organisation standards, which means your license will be internationally recognised.

Gyroplane training | 303 Squadron Flight School | East Rand

303 Squadron Flight School is just next to Oliver Tambo International Airport.

The RAASA – Recreation Aircraft Association of South Africa – requirements for a NPL National Pilots Licence – Gyroplane rating is 25 hours training, 15 hours must be flown solo.

Training for gyroplanes takes place at 303 Squadron Flight School which is accredited from microlight through to commercial pilots licensing with gyroplane training being their speciality. They believe that preparation before a flight is of great importance, so all flight training is first briefed on in the classroom before it is exercised.
