The Nature College’s training centre is in the 3400 ha Aardvark Nature Reserve and is an accredited training provider for field guides, training them since 1993 by a variety of expert lecturers.

Johan Fourie has a vast amount of knowledge about guiding in Southern Africa, including Botswana and Namibia and this knowledge is ploughed back into his team of trainers, who in turn make this knowledge available to guide training programs and handbooks.

The Nature College has developed it own unique training programmes and materials independent of other providers and associations such as FGASA.These techniques are highly rated by THETA. Once you have been approved by a Nature College assessment, you are equipped with good, solid guiding skills and a practical approach to guiding.

The Development Programme
Six month training phase living at the premises of The Nature College. Candidates will attend a total of four SAQA registered guide courses, namely:

The introductory Nature Guide Course
Advanced Nature Guide Course
Introductory Tracker Course
Trails Guide Course
Six months internship at a game lodge. Successful learners are placed at top game lodges for a period of six months to gain practical experience.
