Design College was established in 1981 and is the oldest privately-owned multi-disciplinary design college in South Africa. They offer career oriented courses, not more than 20 students per class, delivered by experienced practitioners -
Bachelor of Design Degree – Interior Design – full time
Bachelor of Design Degree – Graphic Design – fulltime
Design Foundation Course – full time
Architecture Draughting Course – part time
Interior Draughting Course – full time
Short courses in Adobe & Autodesk
Design College is registered with the Department of Education as a private Higher Education institution under the Higher Education Act of 1997, for the NQF level 7 Bachelor of Design degree, which means your Design degree will be internationally recognised as it is registered with South African Qualifications Authority on the National Qualifications Framework
In the students third year, they will be expected to attend at least six weeks of in-service training at a company in your chosen industry.
They offer a Design Careers Holiday Workshop, where you can try this course out before you commit yourself to studying here, and if you didn’t have art as a course at school, they have a Design Foundation course which will take you from a Grade 10 – 12 level art in a year, and also includes design basics. Once you have successfully completed this course you will be ready to enroll for either Graphic Design or Interior Design.
Their other campuses are in Pretoria and Cape Town.
